How to Play Penalty Shoot-Out
Pick a team, set a stake, shoot and decide when to collect. The full rules in a few minutes.
Learning how to play Penalty Shoot-Out takes less than a minute. You pick a country, set a stake and kick at Evoplay's goalkeeper. Every goal raises the multiplier, and you can collect after any goal or shoot again. A miss ends the round, and five goals in a row pay the super bonus.
Game Rules in Brief
Penalty Shoot-Out is an instant game, not a slot. It has no reels, paylines, or symbols. A round is a short series of kicks. The bar above the pitch shows the value of the next goal.
| Stake | Set once per round, $1 - $75 |
| Kicks per full round | Up to 5 |
| After a goal | Collect the win or take the next kick |
| After a miss | The round ends and the stake is lost |
| Five goals | Super bonus at x30.72 |
| RTP | 96% |
Step 1: Choose Your Team
The game starts with a screen showing 24 national teams. Select the flag you want to represent. You can pick a different team for each new round.
The team you choose is only for show. Every country follows the same rules and has the same 96% RTP. A popular team does not score more than a less favored one.
- 24 countries to pick from
- Same odds for every team
- Change your team between rounds

Step 2: Set Your Stake
Set your stake for the round using the controls below the pitch. Evoplay offers stakes from $1 to $75 per round, but a casino can set limits within that range.
Your stake covers the entire shoot-out. You don't pay extra for later kicks. Each goal multiplies your original stake.
| Stake | Win at goal 1 (x1.92) | Super bonus (x30.72) |
|---|---|---|
| $1 | $1.92 | $30.72 |
| $5 | $9.60 | $153.60 |
| $20 | $38.40 | $614.40 |
| $75 | $144 | $2,304 |
Step 3: Take Your Shot
When the round begins, you face the keeper with the ball ready. You can pick a part of the goal to aim for, or let the game choose for you. Evoplay explains both methods.
Aiming makes the game feel real, but it doesn't change your chances. Every kick's result comes from a random number generator. Shots to the corners, middle, or random spots score at the same rate.
- Pick a target area to aim the kick
- Or skip aiming and let the game choose
- Watch the keeper dive and the result play out
Step 4: Collect or Kick Again
After each goal, you must make a choice. Collect to bank your win and end the round. Shoot again risks that win for a chance at a higher multiplier.
This is the only choice that affects your game. Collecting early gives you small, frequent wins. Chasing more goals leads to bigger, less frequent wins. Both ways keep the 96% RTP unchanged.

| Collect | Win is paid, round ends |
| Kick again and score | Multiplier doubles |
| Kick again and miss | Round ends, nothing is paid |
| Score all five | Super bonus x30.72 is paid |
Controls
The game shows everything on one screen. Bet controls are below the pitch, and the multiplier bar is above. Built in HTML5, it works with a mouse on desktop or taps on a touchscreen.
- Bet controls to change the stake between rounds
- Target areas in the goal for aimed shots
- A random shot if you do not pick a spot
- A collect button after each goal
- A rules screen inside the game menu
Is Penalty Shoot-Out Luck or Skill?
It is a game of chance. Each kick is decided by the RNG, and past kicks have no effect on the next one. A run of misses does not make a goal more likely.
The skill part is limited to money decisions. You choose the stake, when to collect and when to stop. That changes how a session feels, but no strategy changes the RTP.
